In much of the training I am compelling the puppy in the process. That is a nice way of saying I am forcing him to do what I need him to do. I am not asking I am teaching.

THIS CREATES BIG PRESSURE for the puppy.. we can see the puppy as a tea kettle on a stove when it gets so much pressure built up it must vent that pressure by opening the steam valve.

We must allow our puppy to vent that pressure through relaxation and decompression. This can only take a few seconds to accomplish.

If we compel the puppy/dog without allowing this release of pressure we will go backwards in the training and the puppy will lose motivation.

How and when to rest and decompress? We have to understand the puppy's body language and signs that tell us that the pressure is building and we need to release it. We will look at ways we can allow the puppy to quickly decompress and re motivate in future training articles.
